Song writing, for Getano is an integral part of his weekly schedule whether it's running a song writing workshop or in action as a music therapist with adolescents in a detox unit, high school or alternative education centre, improvising with toddlers during story time, or working on his latest inspiration at 3 am in the morning.

"The only way I can describe this quandary (song writing) is it is all life consuming, you’re forever on the quest for song ideas whether you're listening in on conversations, gleaning the news papers and magazines for inspiration, you're perpetually on the look out for that fantastic phase, which will then ultimately and undesirability rob you of sleep".

Over the course of the past four decades Getano has written over 400 songs and still counting. "If you’re a painter you paint, I'm a song writer in search of that definitive song. So I work on my craft as often as I can, to hone my skills".
